The Teacher Training Department (D.P.P.D.)

GENERAL PRESENTATION

Starting with the academic year 2009-2010, the “Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Tîrgu Mureş founded the The Teacher Training Department (D.P.P.D.).

The Pre- and In-Service Teacher Training Department (D.P.P.D.), as a institutional structure of the the “Dimitrie Cantemir” University, was founded on the basis of the Order of the Ministry of National Education no. 30127/January 14, 2010.

Ever since its inception, the Teacher Training Department assumed a didactic and scientific research mission in the field of teacher training, by promoting a modern, student-centred, formative learning, adapted to the European standards on psycho-pedagogical training programmes,  and pragmatically oriented to the real needs of society and the current priorities of education.

Since the beginning , the Teacher Training Department has followed its mission by providing psycho-pedagogical training programmes for those students interested in embracing the teaching career.

Hundreds of students coming from all over the country but also  from other EU countries, who complete one or both of their psycho-pedagogical training programmes each year, illustrate the recognition the Teacher Training Department enjoys, and the solid reputation it has built over the years. They also represent the guarantee of the “teachers of teachers” experience which they have it in the training of future teachers.

Through the implementation of these training programmes, accredited by the Ministry of National Education, “Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Tîrgu Mureş reaffirms its role as an institution that takes responsibility, its important role in assuring the quality of education, during this difficult period which crosses the Romanian educational system.

STUDY PROGRAMMES

Level I

LEVEL I – grants the right to take up teaching positions in preschools, primary and secondary education, provided that a minimum of 30 transferable credits are accumulated from the psycho-pedagogical training programme.

 

Level II

Level II grants the right to occupy educational positions in secondary, post-secondary and academic education, on two conditions:

  • To accumulate a minimum of 60 transferable credits, from the psycho-pedagogical training programme, earned by aggregating the 30 credits from the first level with the 30 credits from level II;
  • To graduate a master’s degree programme in the field of undergraduate studies.

DURATION OF STUDIES

The psycho-pedagogical training programmes (Level I and II) can be followed during university and postgraduate studies, for one year, for both levels of certification, in compliance with the legal provisions in force.

D.P.P.D. TEAM

Professors:

The academic staff of D.P.P.D. is formed by pedagogy specialists, psychology, special psycho-pedagogy, sociology, information technology and communications specialists.

The titular professors of Specialty Didactics have special training in the field of student education and pedagogical competences given by the pedagogical education and participation to continuous training programmes, in the field of education sciences.

All these professors are Doctors of Philosophy(PhD), or doctoral students students in their field of activity.

Teachers of pedagogical practices:

The pedagogical practices are guided by the D.P.P.D. teachers, in partnership with teachers from other educational units with whom the Department has signed contracts for the practical part of the courses, teachers appointed by the Leadership of the schools, according to the D.P.P.D. students’ specialty areas, and who offer authentic models for practicing the Teaching profession in pedagogical, scientific, didactic and deontological terms.

The pedagogical practice of Level I takes place under the guidance of the professors from the Omega Secondary School of Tîrgu Mureş and from the Vocational Arts High School of Tîrgu Mureş.

Level II of the  pedagogical practice is conducted under the guidance of  teachers from the Transylvania Economic College of Tîrgu Mureş and the Vocational Arts High School of Tîrgu Mureş

REGISTRATION

Who can apply?

The students of “Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Tîrgu Mureş can enroll in the D.P.P.D. programme during their BA degree studies.

Graduates of the BA degree, who did not attend the psycho-pedagogical training programme during their undergraduate and master’s degree studies,  can be enrolled in postgraduate courses as follows:

-post-graduate enrollment at a Level I is conditional upon the graduation of a Bachelor’s degree programme.

– Postgraduate enrollment in Level II is conditional upon the graduation of a master’s degree programme in the field of  the Bachelor’s degree studies and upon the  graduation of Level I or the fulfillment of the level of psycho-pedagogical training I, in accordance with current legislation.

 

ADMISSION

The admission to the  psycho-pedagogical training programme is based on an interview held in Romanian, under the conditions established by our own methodology.

Documents Required for Admission:

The registration in the first level of  the psycho-pedagogical training programme, BA degree studies:

– birth certificate;

– ID card, as well as proof of change of name(if applicable);

– Medical certificate stating that the person to enroll in studies does not suffer from contagious diseases or other illnesses incompatible with the future profession

–  photocopies of the graduation documents (baccalaureate diploma).

When enrolling in the postgraduate psycho-pedagogical training programme, the candidate should present the following documents:

– birth certificate

– ID card, as well as proof of change of name (if applicable);

– Bachelor’s Degree Diploma and the grade transcript;

– Certificate of equivalence or recognition for the Bachelor’s degree obtained by the Romanian citizens, in the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, based on which the admission is granted, issued by the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas;

– Letter of Acceptance of the citizens from third countries applying for enrollment in order to follow the psycho-pedagogical training programme under the  postgraduate courses. For its release, it will go through the stages stipulated by the legislation in force. The University sends to the specialized departments of the Ministry of National Education the list of citizens of third countries admitted to this programme in accordance with the legislation in force;

– the C1 Linguistic Competence Certificate issued by the accredited educational institutions that organize the preparatory classes for Romanian language learning, for the candidates of the psycho-pedagogical training programmes in Romanian language, and who do not present study papers issued by the units / institutions of Education from Romania or abroad, with teaching courses held in Romanian;

– Medical certificate stating that the person to enroll in studies does not suffer from contagious diseases or other illnesses incompatible with the future profession- bachelor’s degree;

The enrollment in Level II of the psycho-pedagogical training programmes will contain, in addition to the documents required for Level I enrollment, the following papers:

– proof of graduation of the Level I of the psycho-pedagogical training programme, or the fulfillment of the level of psycho-pedagogical training I, in accordance with current legislation.

– a master’s degree in the field of  BA studies, accompanied by a grade transcript/ a master’s degree supplement, both in a certified copy “according to the original” signed by the institution which are organizing of the training programme;

– Certificate of equivalence or recognition for the Master’s degrees obtained abroad obtained by the Romanian citizens, in the European Union, the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, based on which the admission is granted, issued by the National Center for the Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas, in a certified copy “according to the original”  signed by the institution which are organizing of the training programme.

For all students who wish to enroll in the second level of the psycho-pedagogical training programmes  offered by our university and for the ones  who have undergone different psycho-pedagogical training programmes abroad, the higher education institution analyses the training programme, assesses the contents and purposes in writing to The National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED the total or partial equivalence/recognition  of the first-level of the psycho-pedagogical training programme.

HOW TO REGISTER?

Enrollment and Registration is done between 10.07.2017 – 28.07.2017 or 04.09.2017 – 29.09.2017 at “Dimitrie Cantemir” Campus, on Bodoni Sándor Street no. 3-5, between 10 o’clock and 18 o’clock;

The admission will consist of an individual interview with each candidate, in order to discover his / her motivation and attitude towards the teaching profession, followed by the granting of the grades “admitted” or “rejected”.

Registration is made  at the same time with the enrollment and after the interview.

Documents Required (Certified original documents for submission) for enrollment of the students or graduates:

For graduates:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Diploma (in original), and for the 2008 promotion, a certificate issued by the university where he graduated, which confirm the graduation of the bachelor’s examination.
  • Birth Certificate;
  • Marriage Certificate;
  • Health certificate, issued by your family doctor;

 

 

For 1st,2nd and 3rd year students:

  • High School Diploma (in original)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • Health certificate, issued by your family doctor
