“Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Târgu Mureș, through the Faculty of Medicine – Dental Medicine Programme, is organizing the international workshop “Future Dentists, Ideas That Smile” on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00, at the “Serafim Duicu” Library.
The event focuses on the integration of first-year Dental Medicine students, especially international students and students coming from other cities or regions. It also aims to support the development of innovative European project ideas in the field of Dental Medicine. The workshop is proposed by SOLIS SRLS and facilitated by Eng. Ana Maria Solis, expert consultant in project development and EU funding.
The workshop is designed as a practical and participatory activity, creating a collaborative space for reflection, dialogue and co-creation. Participants will explore real challenges related to academic adaptation, belonging, intercultural communication, integration into the university community and support mechanisms for students at the beginning of their academic journey.
A distinctive methodological element of the workshop is the use of autobiographical narrative as a participatory and educational tool. This approach will help participants reflect on arrival, adaptation, belonging, barriers, support networks and possible solutions for improving the first-year student experience. It is not intended as therapy, but as a respectful way to identify common issues, understand different perspectives and transform lived experiences into possible project ideas.
Main themes
The workshop will address topics such as:
welcoming and orientation of first-year students;
integration of international students and students from other localities;
academic adaptation during the first year of university;
intercultural dialogue and peer learning;
language barriers, communication difficulties and sense of belonging;
mentoring, community support and digital tools for integration.
The workshop will use participatory methods such as guided reflection, empathy mapping, small group work, brainstorming, Project Idea Canvas, presentation of ideas and collective prioritisation.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Medicine aims to support student integration, intercultural dialogue and the development of future European projects with impact in the academic community.
